When we entered the doctor’s office, he was sitting in front of his computer. Both of our test results were displayed on the screen.
He stared at them for a long time without saying a word.
Then he stood up, walked over to the door, and closed it.
“Are you absolutely certain that the same donor was used for both pregnancies?”
“Yes,” we answered simultaneously.
The doctor’s face went pale.
“Do you understand what the genetic similarities between these two babies could actually mean?”
My heart began pounding wildly.
“Doctor, please don’t frighten us. Are our babies sick?”
He looked at me first, then at Emily.
“I’ve worked in this field for twenty-seven years, and I’ve rarely encountered results like these. If these findings are confirmed, there’s something extremely important you need to know about your children’s future.”
