Vinegar: A Natural Fabric Softener and Bleach
White vinegar is another great natural option for keeping white fabrics looking bright. It acts as a natural fabric softener while also removing detergent residue that can make clothes look dull over time. Add about 1/2 cup of white vinegar to your regular laundry detergent during the rinse cycle. As a result, most of the soap scum and mineral deposits are removed from the fabric fibers, leaving them smooth and shiny.
Hydrogen Peroxide: Safe and Effective BleachHydrogen peroxide is a mild bleach that effectively whitens white clothes without the harmful effects associated with chlorine bleach. By releasing oxygen upon contact with stains, it breaks them down and lifts them away from the fabric. To use hydrogen peroxide, pour about half a cup into the detergent drawer of your washing machine. Make sure to dilute it properly and avoid using too much, as higher concentrations can potentially weaken the fibers over time.
