“Nobody took us seriously. Nobody,” he said while speaking at the Republican National Convention at the time, per CNBC. “Except Donald Trump. Donald was the first guy to recognize the potential we saw in the UFC and encouraged us to build our business.”

In June, Trump built an arena behind the White House to host a UFC event as part of the celebrations for the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Trump’s plea for White to take on the role of White House press secretary comes less than a month after Zacharia, 41, was ousted as White House press secretary after one week in the role.

Zacharia later blamed the “media” and its disdain of “outsiders” for her short stint as press secretary.
